Microphone Not Working

macOS

1. Check System Permissions

   • System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone
   • Ensure VoiceTypr is toggled On
   • Restart VoiceTypr after granting permission

2. Check Input Device

   • System Settings > Sound > Input
   • Select your microphone
   • Test that the input level moves when you speak

3. Try a Different Mic

   • Built-in MacBook mic works best for most users
   • External USB mics may need driver updates

Windows

1. Check Privacy Settings

   • Settings > Privacy > Microphone
   • Enable "Microphone access" and "Let apps access your microphone"
   • Find VoiceTypr and toggle On

2. Check Default Device

   • Right-click the speaker icon in taskbar
   • Select "Open Sound settings"
   • Verify correct input device is selected

Slow or Laggy Transcription

Cause: Model too large for your RAM, or other apps using CPU.

Fixes:

• Switch to a smaller model (Whisper Base or Parakeet)
• Close unnecessary apps
• Ensure your Mac/PC meets the model's RAM requirements

Text Not Pasting

macOS: Grant Accessibility permission

• System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility
• Add VoiceTypr and toggle On

Windows: Run as administrator

• Right-click VoiceTypr > Run as administrator

Crashes on Startup

1. Delete the model folder and re-download:
   • Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/voicetypr/models
   • Windows: %APPDATA%\voicetypr\models
2. Restart VoiceTypr
3. Re-download your model
