Microphone Not Working
macOS

Check System Permissions
- System Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone
- Ensure VoiceTypr is toggled On
- Restart VoiceTypr after granting permission

Check Input Device
- System Settings > Sound > Input
- Select your microphone
- Test that the input level moves when you speak

Try a Different Mic
- Built-in MacBook mic works best for most users
- External USB mics may need driver updates
Windows

Check Privacy Settings
- Settings > Privacy > Microphone
- Enable "Microphone access" and "Let apps access your microphone"
- Find VoiceTypr and toggle On

Check Default Device
- Right-click the speaker icon in taskbar
- Select "Open Sound settings"
- Verify correct input device is selected
Slow or Laggy Transcription
Cause: Model too large for your RAM, or other apps using CPU.
Fixes:
- Switch to a smaller model (Whisper Base or Parakeet)
- Close unnecessary apps
- Ensure your Mac/PC meets the model's RAM requirements
Text Not Pasting
macOS: Grant Accessibility permission
- System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility
- Add VoiceTypr and toggle On
Windows: Run as administrator
- Right-click VoiceTypr > Run as administrator
Crashes on Startup
- Delete the model folder and re-download:
- Mac:
~/Library/Application Support/voicetypr/models
- Windows:
%APPDATA%\voicetypr\models
- Restart VoiceTypr
- Re-download your model
