Maybe, and the honest answer is it depends on your voice. The clearer your speech, the more accurate any dictation gets, and some people with Parkinson's find their voice grows softer or less distinct over time. The way to know how it does with your voice is to try it: the 3-day trial needs no card, so you can test it with your own microphone first. The medium on-device model is the default; the large model is more accurate if you want to trade a little speed for it.
Do I have to hold the key down the whole time? My hands aren't steady.+
The default is hold-to-talk, but you can set whatever shortcut is easiest to reach and use short bursts instead of long holds. Push-to-talk lives on Option/Alt+Space. If a combo is hard to hit reliably, pick a simpler custom hotkey in settings.
Is my voice sent to the cloud?+
No. Transcription runs on your machine with a local model by default, so your audio stays on your device—which matters when you're dictating medical messages or private notes. Optional AI formatting sends text only when you turn it on, never the audio.
Does this do anything for Parkinson's itself?+
